In the Hospital’s medicinal plant garden, the artist has adapted a sound piece now played in the background of this natural pharmacy and evidence of ancestral practices to relieve pain. Invited to participate in the Dakar Biennale in Senegal, Marie Zolamian collected many accounts about the use of medicinal plants during her stay in the Senegalese capital. Laboratory, herbalists, ethno-botanists, artists, representatives and University students recount the close link between the use of grasses and spiritual practices. With Ecouter les yeux, the artist therefore proposes an out-of-sync visit of the Hospital’s garden by Senegalese healers who reveal, in an unconventional way, the use of natural medicine.
